Promotions Are Strategic, Not Random

Most people wait to be noticed. They put their head down, do great work, and hope someone recognizes it. That's not a strategy — that's a wish. The professionals who get promoted consistently are the ones who are strategic about their visibility, relationships, and impact.

Days 1-30: Foundation

1. Have an explicit career conversation with your manager. Ask: 'What would I need to demonstrate to be considered for [next role]?' 2. Map the key decision-makers who influence promotions. 3. Identify a high-visibility project to own. 4. Start documenting your impact in measurable terms.

Days 31-60: Execution

1. Deliver exceptional results on your high-visibility project. 2. Share your progress in team meetings (make your work visible). 3. Build relationships with 2-3 senior leaders through coffee chats. 4. Seek feedback proactively — show you're coachable and growth-oriented.

Days 61-90: Positioning

1. Present your results to stakeholders with clear business impact. 2. Ask your manager for a formal promotion conversation. 3. Come prepared with a 'promotion packet': your achievements, feedback, and a vision for how you'll add value in the new role. 4. If the answer is 'not yet,' ask for a specific timeline and criteria.
