The Art of Giving Feedback That Actually Lands

Most feedback fails because it's vague, poorly timed, or delivered badly. Here's how to give feedback that people actually hear and act on.

Why Most Feedback Fails

Vague praise ('Good job!') and sandwich feedback (positive-negative-positive) don't work. People see through it. Effective feedback is specific, timely, and focused on behavior — not character.

The SBI Framework

Situation: 'In yesterday's client meeting...' Behavior: '...you interrupted the client twice during their explanation...' Impact: '...which made them visibly frustrated and they cut the meeting short.' Then ask: 'What was your intention there? How might you approach it differently next time?'
